Thank the political gods, and good fricken riddance!

Well, finally no more Ray Fukking Nagin as mayor of New Orleans. I just hope this new guy isn't as big a retard. From what I read, he doesn't sound too awful.

At least we can count on him not making any "chocolate city" remarks.

2/7/2010 1:45:42 AM   From:  LiquidSnake   On a non-related note, I love my Droid phone. It's web browser is almost identical to a desktop computer browser in terms of capability. A lot of my posts n comments were made through this phone.
2/7/2010 1:55:46 AM   From:  LiquidSnake   Now if we could get Palin to shut up with her surface material remarks and stop teasing with the scary idea of her running for prez (why else would she be doing the public speaking so much if not to lay groundwork and drum up support for an actual run?).

Why can't Ron Paul or Colin Powell be president? I'd be proud to say I'm an American if either of them were in office, or had a realistic shot at it. I love both of their moderate mindsets, and have a lot of respect for them.
2/7/2010 3:08:37 AM   From:  whogo   The Dems are hoping Palin gets the Republican nomination in 2012.
2/7/2010 3:49:36 AM   From:  LiquidSnake   Of course they are, because it assures the Republican Party losing.
2/7/2010 4:02:17 AM   From:  whogo   I wonder if she has ever read a book.
2/7/2010 4:09:50 AM   From:  LiquidSnake   She supposedly wrote one. I read reviews on "Going Rogue". It's supposedly filled with inaccurate statements and half truths. What cracks me up is how much of a hypocrite she is. She's guilty of a lot of the same things Obama is, such as elitism.

She charges 100 grand to do a speech (which I will be very surprised if she actually doesn't keep the money as she claims) and not only that, but the price of admission was at a minimum of like 350 bucks just to listen in. If that doesn't scream eliteism, I dunno what does. I don't have 350 bucks laying around to listen to a dumb broad speak, do you?
2/7/2010 4:14:06 AM   From:  LiquidSnake   Even the people attending the "tea party" saw the hypocrasy in the price to be there.
2/7/2010 4:18:34 AM   From:  whogo   She raised governement spending in Alaska by 30% in two years to $18000 per Alaskan. ain't no fiscal conservative.
2/7/2010 1:58:14 PM   From:  PapaBryant   The claims of "inaccuracies" come from partisan groups, who have an agenda and a track record of lying about this woman (remember the stories about how her disabled baby was REALLY her daughter's child?).

Do you trust Palin, or groups that would fake photos of her, like those found here ( http://www.secretsofsarahpalin.com/2008/09/01/10-pictures-sarah-palin-doesnt-want-you-to-see/ ) because of how afraid of her they are.

Personally I'd trust Palin before I'd trust those who lie through faked photographs. I doubt anything else they say is truthful.

Palin is not a fiscal conservative, but a strong cultural one, and the embodiment of Burke's definition of conservatism. She is suprisingly intelligent, though a little soft on theory. She is VERY strong on defense policy, thanks to being the ONLY governor that recieves the same NSA and Military briefings that the President and his staff gets every morning.
2/7/2010 3:42:01 PM   From:  whogo   We do not need another conservative President who is not a fiscal conservative. We need one who when asked about Hayek does not reply "I think she is a good actress."
2/7/2010 3:43:23 PM   From:  whogo   Palin rose state spending per citizen by 30% IN TWO YEARS.
2/7/2010 3:48:27 PM   From:  whogo   Thw fact is I doi not trust the former governor of the most socialist state in the union to control federal spending. Give me Newt.
2/7/2010 4:03:05 PM   From:  whogo   ^^^^^ Obviously, I ain't had enough to drink yet.
2/7/2010 4:16:37 PM   From:  whogo   If Palin is bright she does a damn good job of disguising it.
2/7/2010 8:30:59 PM   From:  LiquidSnake   I don't buy that shit that "she's intelligent, just misunderstood" line. No. She's been in the spotlight over 2 years now, and she has said virtually nothing thought provoking. The woman is an idiot. Let's be honest, the only reason she gets half the attention she does is because she's attractive in many peoples eyes.

The word intelligence and Sarah Quitter Palin shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence together.
2/7/2010 8:36:35 PM   From:  LiquidSnake   And strong cultural conservative my ass. Her "hockey mom" type are a dime a dozen. There is nothing special about her, all she sees is dollar signs. If she was "for the people", she wouldn't command 100 grand just to speak to a group of Americans.

God knows she's already made plenty off her retarded book.
2/7/2010 8:59:17 PM   From:  eddo   Nagin is a jackass. Palin, not so much.
2/7/2010 9:02:40 PM   From:  LiquidSnake   Don't forget she quit her job, PB. She doesn't receive those top secret briefings anymore.
2/8/2010 5:18:27 AM   From:  PapaBryant   Nothing "thought provoking"? She nailed Obama's testiculars to the wall on the Death Panels!

She thinks abortion should be states' issue, not federal mandate.

She oppoosed the Wall Street bailout.

She opposed the Ledbetter Act.

She encouraged economic growth in Alaska by cutting taxes on small businesses.

She pushed for gang members on probation being forced to wear electronic monitors.

She supports charter schools and home schooling. She supports teaching intelligent design in public schools along side evolution as a way to foster critical thinking skills.

She replaced the secret gasline pipeline deal Alaska had with the oil companies with open competition.

She is a skeptic on man-made global warming - especially thought provoking after the email scandal!

She opposes amnesty for illegal aliens, but supports the "pathway to citizenship" initiative.

Hugo is right that she is no Ron Paul. But Paul is dead wrong on the War on Terror, so even he isn't the perfect candidate. However, Sarah Palin has been consistently misquoted and lied about in the mainstream news so often that even partisan Democrats have been embarrased by the way she has been treated. She is smart and tough - Maggie Thatcher with better legs. And remember, they said much the same things about Reagan.
2/8/2010 5:41:55 AM   From:  BCAR   I like Sara Palin only because she makes Jackass Liberals pissed off and show their doyble standard when it comes to womens rights and support for same.
Other than that, she quit her job as governor to go on a book and speaking tour. I don't care for quitters.
2/8/2010 6:42:05 AM   From:  LiquidSnake   You can defend your quitter all you want, PB. None of what you said was revelatory to me as I'm well aware that she's an oppurtunist, and like I said, her looks have gotten her far. You said it yourself, Maggie Thatcher with better legs.
2/8/2010 9:00:03 AM   From:  Ali   There are things I admire about Palin, and things I don't. She would not be a good leader for our country, however. If she ran for President, it's not very likely that she would get my vote.
2/8/2010 11:10:18 AM   From:  MrsK   Those supposed "Death Panels" were her own invention.
2/8/2010 3:41:28 PM   From:  whogo   Give me Newt.
2/8/2010 10:33:00 PM   From:  MrsK   Translation: Hugo would like a lizard, please.
2/9/2010 5:23:42 AM   From:  BCAR   John (king of pork) Murtha has passed away. I wonder if he diverted enough stimulus money to get him a nice spot in the afterworld.
2/9/2010 5:27:53 AM   From:  PapaBryant   No they weren't K. As long as there are oversight panels with the power to stop treatments in the Obama plan, there are "death panels".

What most people don't realize is that American Progressivism carried the water for the Eugenics and Euthanasia movements of the 20's and 30's. Those movements never went away, even though they were defeated at the polls in those days. American progressives have never given up on that dream of government control over who lives, breeds and dies.

Look up the "cost of life" formula used by a lot of hospitals to determine which premature babies live or die. 60 Minutes did an expose on it a few years back. Those hospitals that have a history of contributing to Democratic Progressive politicians overwhelmingly use this cost of life formula to determine how hard they try to save premature babies. If you are a welfare mom, with a HS education or less, and you have a premie... don't expect to bring your baby home from the hospital.
2/9/2010 5:56:29 AM   From:  MrsK   Oh don't go there PB. I've been to those NICU units for a month or so at a time. I now EXACTLY what Crack Whores do when they drop a 1 lb baby. They leave it int he hospital to die. That is a very touchy subject with me.

And crass and cruel as this may sound if I had the choice between living a life knowing my crack whoe mother left me in the hospital to die, that I was born addicted to the shit she did, that it would cause me pain and disfigurment for my entire life... I would choose DEATH.
2/9/2010 5:58:54 AM   From:  MrsK   Those babies lie there dying, the machines going off every 5 minutes and a group of doctors and nurses shifting from one side of the room to the other pumping artificial life back into them until the beeping stops... All Day and All Night. Yet, while I sat there with my nephew who was a month early NO ONE EVER came to see those babies. Not ONCE did I see ANNYONE there to see any of them. Let the poor things go. *shudders*
2/9/2010 7:39:28 AM   From:  MrsK   From my favorite Doctor Or at leat the movie about him: "What's wrong with death sir? What are we so mortally afraid of? Why can't we treat death with a certain amount of humanity and dignity, and decency, and God forbid, maybe even humor. Death is not the enemy gentlemen. If we're going to fight a disease, let's fight one of the most terrible diseases of all, indifference."

I see nothing wrong at all with allowing sick people who are suffering and in pain to end their lives, or have assistance in doing so.
2/9/2010 8:31:58 AM   From:  eddo   big difference between allowing those in pain to end their lives and forcing it cause you don't wanna pay for care.
2/9/2010 8:33:12 AM   From:  MrsK   That is a bunch of crap. A right wing line fed by right wing nut jobs. And if you believe that crap I have a nice peice of beach front property you might be interested in.
2/9/2010 10:21:37 AM   From:  BCAR   Bottom line is the government shouldn't even BE in a position to make the decision.
The people have made it quite clear, they don't want the inept, corrupt, pork laden health care bill. It's just another scam on the American people. After a year of this and similar garbage folks are fed up.
2/9/2010 12:16:28 PM   From:  LiquidSnake   I'm surprised that health care bill is still floating around. When is Obama going to chalk this up to being a Clinton move and dropping it? It's obvious Republicans are going to fight it tooth and nail to the very end. But everybody is stubborn I suppose
2/9/2010 6:51:04 PM   From:  whogo   I agree with MrsK, kill the stupid crackhead babies.
2/10/2010 9:31:01 PM   From:  PapaBryant   Oh don't go there PB. I've been to those NICU units for a month or so at a time. I now EXACTLY what Crack Whores do when they drop a 1 lb baby. They leave it int he hospital to die. That is a very touchy subject with me.

K, what has this got to do with anything I said? I'm talking about hospitals and doctors determining what babies are going to live and die based strictly on their judgements of the economic and educational value of the parent. I am NOT talking about what the parent themselves might or might not do.

And remember, I have TWO children and ONE grandchild that has spent time in NICU. The fight I had with the hospitals with the grandchild was a direct result of a quality of life formula. They didn't want to give him the care he needed and now I have to deal with central apnea and fluid on the outside of the brain that the doctors here in Florida are concerned about, just not enough to actually operate and relieve the fluid. His medicaid you know.....
2/10/2010 9:40:57 PM   From:  PapaBryant   http://www.abanet.org/irr/hr/winter00humanrights/colemand.html -- The American Bar Association website (hardly a conservative organization):

"In 1989, the U.S. Civil Rights Commission issued a 153-page report entitled "Medical Discrimination Against Children with Disabilities." Among the events considered by the Commission was an experiment conducted from 1977 to 1982 at the Children's Hospital of Oklahoma. Doctors there developed a "quality of life" formula for babies with spina bifida, taking into account the socioeconomic status of the baby's family to determine what to advise families about a simple but life-and-death procedure. Better-off families were provided a realistic and optimistic picture of their child's potential. Poor families were provided a pessimistic picture. All of the families who were given an optimistic picture asked for medical care for their children. Conversely, four out of five poor families agreed not to treat their children, and twenty-four babies died. The U.S. Civil Rights Commission concluded:

To accept a projected negative quality of life . . . based on the difficulties society will cause . . . , rather than tackling the difficulties themselves, is unacceptable. The Commission rejects the view that an acceptable answer to discrimination and prejudice is to assure the "right to die" to those against whom the discrimination and prejudice exists."
