Thanks Chi *no giggles*

Remember the chart from Obamas first infomercial/ address to the nation. A tidy chart showing how his stimulus package was going to curb unemployment and the dire consequences if we didn't fall in line for it.

Well, uh, we seem to have a problem here.

6/23/2009 12:13:05 PM   From:  BCAR   I hate it when my charts won't load
6/23/2009 12:56:08 PM   From:  Ali   I would have rated this post a solid "10"...if it had a chart.
6/26/2009 6:55:24 AM   From:  BCAR   Post - "10"
Economy - "5"
Obama - ".5"
6/26/2009 7:10:46 AM   From:  ImWithStupid   I like how they keep saying that nobody saw the economy was as bad as it was, but they were the only ones (and MSNBC) with their bright and rosey predictions on the economy. Everyone else, including the Congressional Budget Office, said their predictions were way too optimistic.
6/26/2009 7:21:31 AM   From:  BCAR   When you campaign on the premiss that the economy is bad, when you keep telling people the economy is bad, and then you pass legislation that makes it even worse. It's a self fullfilling prophecy.
6/26/2009 7:39:42 AM   From:  Chi   So where is this so accurate chart from? I'm not doing bad economically. I could be doing better, but it doesn't have to do with the economy.
6/26/2009 7:45:53 AM   From:  Chi   Yes, the economy and employment (they often go hand and hand) could be better, but for the MILLIONTH time thank the past administration for that. Yes BCAR, I'm aware he isn't the President anymore. And Obama is working on it, it can't be fixed overnight for the GAZILLIONTH time. It took much longer for things to be like this than how long Obama has been in office. Anything else?

I should just cut and save the above for future inane, circular arguments.
6/26/2009 8:16:19 AM   From:  BCAR   The blue chart comes from the Obama administration and was displayed during one of his first press conferences when he was pushing the stimulus bill. This is his chart. The red dots are actual figures from the Dept. of labor based on unemployment claims.

A harsher critic than I might say that Obama lied to the American people in order to get a sweetheart piece of legislation passed.
6/26/2009 8:19:14 AM   From:  BCAR   A gentler critic like myself would simply say that he and his advisors didn't know what the hell was going on.

Or than the stimulus bill hasn't done a damn thing and in fact is making things worse.
6/26/2009 8:37:49 AM   From:  Chi   Funny how my cut and paste reply up there still applies.
6/26/2009 8:41:29 AM   From:  eddo   Obama lied to the American people in order to get a sweetheart piece of legislation passed.
6/27/2009 5:04:14 AM   From:  PapaBryant   "Yes, the economy and employment (they often go hand and hand) could be better, but for the MILLIONTH time thank the past administration for that."

Not anymore Chi, and that is EXACTLY the point! It is now the actions of the Obama administration trying to "fix" the problem that are now making it worse. And don't let Barney Frank off the hook for his part in "Bush's" recession; if Barney Frank had kept his hands on congressional pages instead of the economy NONE OF THIS would have happened.

You don't tax at a higher rate when there is a money flow problem. You don't collectivize your industries and financial institutions, placing them under political control of a huge bureaocrasy, in order to make them more efficient and profitable. And you damn sure don't print more money to pay off your debt, not unless you WANT hyperinflation.

(shakes head and walks away)

6/27/2009 5:08:20 AM   From:  whogo   We elected the wrong black man.
6/27/2009 5:26:24 AM   From:  whogo   It is congress that is resposible for the budget. Been in Democratic hands for awhile now.
6/27/2009 5:44:05 PM   From:  BCAR   It wasn't anyone from the Bush administration showing off that graph during free air time on ABC.
